The S&B 10-1018 is an excellent fuel-capacity upgrade for Ram owners who tow, travel long distances, work in rural areas, or simply want to spend less time pulling into fuel stations. It is a true replacement tank—not an in-bed auxiliary tank—so it preserves bed space for cargo, fifth-wheel equipment, tools, or recreation gear.
Installation requires transferring the OEM sending unit into the S&B tank. S&B’s instructions call for supporting the tank, disconnecting the OEM feed line, return line, and electrical connection, transferring the sending unit with the supplied sealing components, routing the fill and vent lines correctly, and checking the completed installation for leaks. Proper strap torque and driveshaft clearance must be verified before returning the vehicle to service.

This replacement tank does not normally create diagnostic trouble codes when installed correctly because it retains the OEM sending unit and electrical connection. However, an incorrect sender installation, unseated O-ring, damaged connector, pinched vent hose, or improperly secured fuel line can cause fuel-system concerns such as:
Inaccurate, intermittent, or inoperative fuel-level gauge readings.
Fuel odor, visible leaks, or slow filling caused by vent/filler-hose routing issues.
Extended cranking, fuel-delivery issues, or a no-start condition if fuel connections are not fully locked.
Potential fuel-level sensor-related codes, such as P0461, P0462, P0463, or P0464, if the sender circuit or float assembly is damaged or connected improperly.
Note: The truck’s Distance-to-Empty calculation may not accurately reflect the larger tank capacity, depending on the OE instrument-cluster calibration. Verify fuel level using the gauge and odometer rather than relying solely on Distance to Empty.
Will this fit a short-bed Ram?
