Installation requires disconnecting both negative battery cables before beginning. S&B specifically instructs leaving both batteries disconnected for a minimum of two hours; skipping this step can cause a check-engine light after installation or later operation. Basic hand tools are required, including a 10 mm socket or wrench. Disconnecting the battery cables helps clear the learned values for Mass Airflow. On startup the system will relearn the base values and adapt accordingly.

This intake is not intended to create diagnostic trouble codes when correctly installed. If a check-engine light appears after installation, inspect the MAF sensor connection and locking tab, intake-tube and turbo-inlet clamp tightness, filter seating, and battery-disconnect procedure. Possible symptoms of an improperly installed intake include a CEL, reduced power, abnormal intake noise, air leaks, or rough running. S&B’s installation instructions specifically warn that not disconnecting the batteries for two hours may illuminate the CEL.
Which filter should I choose?
Choose the 75-5144 oiled cotton version if you want a washable, reusable filter. Choose the 75-5144D dry paper version if you prefer an oil-free filter service routine.
Will this fit my 2020 or newer L5P Duramax?
No. This intake is intended for 2017-2019 Silverado HD and Sierra HD trucks equipped with the 6.6L L5P Duramax. 2020-2026 is part number 75-5136 and 75-5136D
Does this intake void my truck warranty?
